As an actor, I wholeheartedly believe that any and all artistic expression is integral to survival. While embodying different characters, stakes, and realities has been my chosen form, I find immense comfort and inspiration through dance, writing, and music. 

 

During my time at UNC Greensboro (BFA Acting class of '23’), my studies focused on Miesner, Uta Hagen, Shakespeare, and devised theater. Specifically, classical text dissection and subtextual exploration became obsessions of mine. Along with that, I was drawn to projects that commented on the world we live in, all its cracks and imperfections. It is truly my belief that theater should push boundaries, be avant-garde, and call its audience to action. 

 

Now, in my post-graduate life, I am exploring how movement can inform acting performance. Dance improvisation has specifically inspired me by giving my body so much material. I have gained a much better understanding of my body in space and have also opened up possibilities for physically embodying a character, leading to a fully immersive performance. Joining KTCO The Company, a NYC-based contemporary dance company, in 2024 as co-director, I was a part of creating and promoting evening-length programs whose purpose was to highlight intersectional feminism. We utilized creative and rehearsal processes to share our stories, learn about others' experiences, and find community. These projects have inspired me in more ways than I can write. 

 

I hope to lead a future where I surround myself with dance, new adaptations of Shakespeare's classics, devised pieces, and other creatives and their mediums, all to continue my education as an artist.
